Historical Site

(King Ja Ja of Opobo - 1821 to 1891) lived at this site. One of many during his years of exile (1888-1891) by the British from Opobo in West Africa.
King Ja Ja was banished to ensure British dominance especially in the palm oil trade in what is now Ghana.
The King was never able to realize his dearest wish of returning to Opobo. He died en route in Tenerife on 7th July 1981[sic, 1891].
